Switching
The hard part isn’t the software.
You worked out long ago that your POS costs too much. What keeps you on it is the fear of a dead Friday night.
- We do the migration
- $0 to switch
- Cutover on a slow service
What moves
Your restaurant comes with you.
Your menu
Items, modifiers, groups, prices, and per-channel availability. We build it, not you.
Your history
Sales going back, so last year is still there to compare against.
Your guests
Customers, loyalty balances, and outstanding gift cards honored from day one.
No implementation fee. No menu-building fee. Those exist because a restaurant that has already signed is in a poor position to argue.
Cutover week
What actually happens.
Weeks 1–2
You run Mamal in parallel with no customers attached, until managers stop asking where things are.
Training
One shift. Staff know tablets already, so we cover comps, voids, reopens and the close.
Cutover
A deliberately slow service, with somebody from Mamal on the phone throughout.
First close
We reconcile it with you line by line. Explaining a difference is our job.

Before you sign anything
Including with us.
The costs that catch people out leaving a legacy POS have nothing to do with software.
- Your term. Many agreements auto-renew unless cancelled in a specific window. Find your end date first.
- Your hardware. If the terminals were free, they were financed. Leased terminals rarely have a second life.
- Your data. Ask your current provider in writing what they export, and in what format. The answer is informative.
Send us your agreement and we will read it with you. Sometimes the answer is to stay put another six months, and we will say so.

Switching FAQ
How long does the whole thing take?
Usually two to three weeks from first conversation to cutover, and most of that is you running Mamal in parallel rather than us doing anything. The migration itself is quick. What takes the time, and should take the time, is your managers getting comfortable enough that cutover night is boring. We would much rather spend an extra week in parallel than rush you into a Friday you regret.
What happens to my old sales history?
We bring it across so your year-on-year comparisons still work, and your old system stays available to read for as long as your contract with them runs. Getting history out of some legacy systems is easier than others, and we will tell you honestly what we can extract from yours before you commit to anything, rather than discovering the limits halfway through.
Will my staff need retraining from scratch?
No. Anyone who has used a smartphone can ring an order on Mamal within a few minutes, which is most of the job. Training covers the exceptions, which is where money moves: comping an item, voiding a check, reopening a closed one, and running the close. One shift is normally enough, and we do it with you rather than sending a video.
What if it goes wrong on cutover night?
Somebody from Mamal is reachable for the whole service, not a support queue. Your old system is still there, still has your menu, and can be switched back to. We pick a slow service deliberately so that the worst case is an inconvenient evening rather than a catastrophic one. In practice the thing that goes wrong is usually a printer routing rule, which takes about a minute to fix.
